How to use the Sony Vegas slideshow option as a creative tool
This introductory article explains how to use the ‘slideshow’ option in Sony Vegas video editing software as a creative tool,
The slideshow option allows you to include a slide show of photographs for example within the timeline of a video or film making project, thus creating a blend of video clips and photographs in your short film or video.
The basics of the slideshow option are pretty simple. Go to the Vegas help menu and select search. Type in slideshow and you will be presented with the option ‘inserting a slideshow.’
Choose this option.
Why would I even want to use the slideshow option in Sony Vegas?
Exactly.
Isn’t video and film making entirely about the moving image, ie. various video clips?
What do static images ie. photographs as in a slideshow have to do with this?
This was also my reasoning, or rather this was my prejudice (ok, one of my prejudices.)
Then I found what I believe is a pretty unusual use for the slideshow option – I used it as a creative tool for a short film.
In the next post entitled ‘How to use the Sony Vegas slideshow option as a creative tool part 2‘ I’ll go into more detail about this, and explain how it can be used in wedding videography.
Unbiased view of video editing software
Keep in mind that any video editing software with a slideshow option can be used for this purpose – it doesn’t have to be Sony Vegas. The only reason I mention Vegas is, I have practical experience of using it.
