How to buy a synthesiser, synthesiser keyboard or synthesiser controller for video and film making part 3

Well, I finally bought a synthesizer to provide the background music and sound effects for my film making, and as it didn’t cost too much it’s also ideal for budget diy film making.

It’s a Yamaha midi keyboard model CBX-K1, and although it’s probably pretty dated in comparison to later Yamaha midi keyboards (and other brands of midi keyboards) it’s fine for creating basic background music and sound effects in film making.

Do you really need a midi keyboard for film making?

The reason I decided to buy my midi keyboard was, I didn’t want to get involved in copyright issues with YouTube.
I reasoned that it was better to create my own background music and sound effects with a midi keyboard rather than risk this.

How much should I spend if I decide to buy a midi keyboard for film making

In my opinion, not too much. You might use it, you might not. By this I mean that it’s possible to shoot a short film that doesn’t have any background music or sound effects.
Even so, there’s no doubt that background music helps create mood and atmosphere.
